Youth Spread Holiday Cheer with Ugly Sweaters, Carols, and Community Spirit

On Sunday, December 14th, 2025 our youth ministry kicked off the holiday season with an unforgettable Christmas caroling event that brought together nearly 25 kids including youth members, Palisade-ans and communities beyond for an afternoon of festive fun, faith, and fellowship. From ugly Christmas sweaters to heartfelt songs, our young people were full of joy and left with a deeper understanding of the true meaning of Christmas.

Learning, Growing, and Warming Up in Luther Hall

The afternoon began in Luther Hall following church, where our youth gathered in their most creative ugly Christmas sweaters. Before diving into the festivities, the group focused on warming up their vocals and learning about the importance of trying new things and embracing new concepts. With a couple of shy kids in the group, this time was especially valuable for building confidence and encouraging everyone to step outside their comfort zone.

Hot Cocoa, Cookies, and Games in the Fireside Room

Next, everyone moved to the Fireside Room for hot chocolate, cookies, and a lively game of “Have You Ever” featuring questions about faith, Christmas traditions and of course BASKETBALL. It was a fun way to build community while reinforcing the spiritual foundations of the season.

Performing for Families in the Sanctuary

The youth then made their way to the Sanctuary, where parents gathered to hear them sing. While we didn’t have the vehicle bandwidth to transport nearly 25 kids out into the community for caroling, we brought the caroling tradition right here to PLC. The young people performed beautiful Christmas carols, sharing the joy and spirit of the season with those in attendance. Knowing that today’s youth are comfortable with technology, we also recorded the performance to share with the wider community during the holiday season, allowing even more people to experience the blessing of their voices.

Spreading Joy Beyond PLC

After the youth performance, Pastor Martin and Anne continued the caroling tradition by visiting homes in the community, bringing Christmas cheer directly to families’ doorsteps.

Ending on a High Note

The evening concluded with the group’s favorite activity: basketball in Luther Hall! After singing their hearts out, the youth burned off energy and celebrated a successful day of faith, fun, and fellowship.

Thank you to all the youth who participated, to the families who came to support them, and to Pastor and Anne for extending the caroling tradition into the community. Events like these remind us that faith, fun, and community go hand in hand.
