Rev. Dr. Martin E. Lee

As both a Lutheran Pastor and a registered investment advisor, Martin possesses a diverse professional background, and a diverse worldview.

He was born into a biracial family, named after Martin Luther King Jr., and by God’s grace has been blessed with educational opportunities in the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS) school system from elementary school, high school, college, and doctoral levels.  While a student at Concordia Theological Seminary, Martin also studied at the US Naval Chaplain’s Candidate School and graduated from the officer’s school in Newport, RI.  Martin defended his Major Applied Project (MAP) and was honored with a Doctor of Ministry (D.Min.) degree from Concordia Seminary. He researched organizational and financial stewardship in congregations and developed a stewardship tool to assist ministries in aligning activities to improve gospel impact and financial health.

Further Martin serves as a faculty member of the Lutheran Transitional Ministry Association (LuTMA, an association formed primarily of two Lutheran church bodies: The ELCA and LCMS) where he is responsible for the facilitation of learning with other faculty. More recently, he serves as a workshop presenter at Ashland Theological Seminary (Ashland University) in the pastoral ministry leadership certificate program; and, he has been a conference leader in the Michigan District of the LCMS and workshop presenter at NALIP. Martin serves as the Chair on the Board of Directors for Interim Ministry Conference (IMC) of the LCMS, where he is a member of the development and advancement committee and the curriculum development committee.

PASTORAL CARE

“My greatest joy as a Pastor is comforting God’s People.”

“The honest pastoral candidate knows that the office, not he himself, should be on a pedestal.”

(Pastoral Theology, CPH, 1990.)

Our pastor(s) find their greatest pastoral joy in ministry in comforting God’s people with the assurance of the Gospel. “Only through the Gospel are people brought into a new, saving, living relationship with God. Only through faith in Christ Jesus and his Word are ultimate answers found, sins forgiven, eschatological therapy received, eternal destiny assured, anxieties relieved, despair turned to hope, and selfishness turned to service. Only through the Gospel can the church come close to being the salt, the light, and the leaven it is intended to be (Matt. 5:13ff.; 13:33).”

PASTORAL SERVICES

Individual Confession & Absolution

Private confession-absolution may be the most important activity in the pastor’s role as Seelsorger (caretaker of souls). Private confession-absolution is nothing other than applying the full Gospel to one hurting soul.

Marriage Planning & The Wedding Service – The Wedding Planner

Plan for a life together and a wedding service. The Bible describes marriage as a gift from God, and it should not be entered into lightly. Pastor Lee provides several pre-marital sessions getting to know the couple. More importantly during these sessions he will provide resources for planning a Christian wedding and marriage.

 Visitation and Life Together

It is our Pastor(s) aim “To perform the functions of a pastor in an evangelical manner; to aid, counsel, and guide members [and visitors] of all ages and social conditions: to visit the sick and the dying; to admonish the indifferent and the erring….”

Pastoral Care for Individuals, Married, Divorced, and Remarried

Rejoice together and weep together.

The Pastor Cares for the Family

One of Pastor Lee’s greatest joys in being a pastor is to pray for and encourage families. Pastor is available to attend any family gatherings to provide prayers or encouraging conversation.
